Use cases
Where collective sensemaking makes the difference.
Hunome delivers to a wide range of use cases — from strategic decision-making to democratic deliberation to living research. They are grouped here not by industry but by the underlying need: what you are trying to build, and why existing approaches fall short.
In every case, the value comes from the same source: structured deliberation that captures what people think and from where they are thinking, with analysis that makes the collective understanding visible and actionable.
Understanding what is changing
Build rich, contextual understanding of change before you have to act on it
The most expensive decisions are the ones made before anyone truly understood what was happening. These use cases are about building that understanding systematically — across disciplines, geographies, and ways of knowing — so that when you act, you act from solid ground.
Strategy · Foresight · Risk · Market insight
General sensemaking
A theme is emerging and needs to be understood richly and by many. Hunome increases shared understanding across participants, accelerates learning, and broadens reach across geographies, demographics, and expertise — without losing the context behind each contribution.
Trend analysis
Understand a trend's evolution and meaning — in the world and for your specific context. Rather than a generic market report, you get a contextualised, continuously evolving view built by the people closest to the signal. Unintended consequences and novel opportunities surface from the deliberation, not from interpolation.
Root cause analysis
Asking 'five whys' together produces fundamentally different results than any one analyst working alone. Hunome structures the deliberation so root causes are identified through contribution and connection rather than assumption, and the reasoning behind each cause remains visible and revisable.
Impact analysis
Before locking in a direction, understand what happens next — and after. Diverse perspectives on impact and unintended consequences, structured so they build on each other rather than cancel each other out. Imagination and evidence are equally welcome.
Risk analysis
You've identified risks. Understanding their real importance and consequences requires context you don't hold alone. Hunome turns risk analysis into a living collective model rather than a static register, with contextual meaning evolving as the environment changes.
Market and competitive intelligence
Intelligence that stays current — built by the people closest to the signal
Market reports go stale the day they are published. Research briefs answer the question you knew to ask. Hunome gives intelligence and research a living structure — continuously updated by contributors, with The Lens surfacing patterns as they emerge.
Market intelligence · Competitive strategy · Research · Innovation
Market intelligence
Understand market dynamics and what is changing — contextually, not generically. Contributors mature to the change through deliberation, producing richer and more relevant output than survey questions could surface. Continuity means the output is always current rather than a snapshot.
Competitive intelligence
Stay on the pulse of competitive moves in a manner that is continuously updated and accessible to the whole team. Everyone can add new signals as they acquire them. The collective map stays current without a central analyst to maintain it.
Research
An emerging research theme needs input across disciplines, geographies, and ways of knowing that formal research structures cannot reach efficiently. Hunome broadens participation without losing rigour, and makes cross-disciplinary connections visible that sequential consultation structurally misses.
Innovative thinking
Innovation increases significantly when your organisation and ecosystem deliberate broadly — not just the designated innovation team. New thoughts arise as ideas collide across different ways of knowing. Hunome's assisted serendipity makes those collisions happen structurally rather than by accident.
Decisions and alignment
Decisions that hold — because the people who act on them helped build them
The initiatives that stall do so for a predictable reason: the people expected to execute had no access to the reasoning behind them. Buy-in is not something you communicate into existence. It comes from genuine involvement in building the understanding that the decision rests on.
Enterprise strategy · Change · Alignment · Innovation
Alignment building
Create buy-in across stakeholders and ecosystems by involving them in building understanding — not by presenting conclusions to them. People internalise change through deliberation, not through being informed. Hunome structures that process efficiently at scale.
Ecosystem boosting
Quickly understand how your ecosystem thinks about a theme of change, and bring them along to a shared direction. Easy to set up, easy to join, producing shared understanding that enables faster coordinated action.
System rethink
Before mapping or redesigning a system, you need to understand how it might evolve and what is involved. Hunome brings in perspectives from people not familiar with systems design — which is often exactly where the most important insight comes from — and makes the connections systemic rather than fragmented.
Design and creative
Validate experience and context during a design process. Gain insights that emerge from deliberation among several people rather than individual feedback, finding new thoughts as perspectives build on each other. The output lives on for the next design challenge.
Influence, advocacy, and public understanding
Influence built on demonstrated understanding — not just persuasive argument
A strong argument made by one person is a claim. The same position, built through structured deliberation with a diverse group, is demonstrable understanding. Hunome gives advocacy and societal organisations the infrastructure to build — and show — the latter.
Policy · Advocacy · Societal organisations · Public sector · NGOs
Societal influence
Promote an agenda by involving natural evangelists and the community in the deliberation itself — not just the communication campaign after it. Contributors become invested in the outcome because they helped build it. The ripple effect extends naturally.
Democratic deliberation
Improve the quality and representativeness of democratic deliberation. What makes sense to a community emerges from the deliberation rather than being asserted. Decisions resonate because everyone can see the reasoning behind them, and why a particular direction makes sense.
Awareness building
Build awareness through argumentation developed with relevant contributors — not a push campaign. A strong case built by many people has more reach and credibility than one person's say-so. Connect the core group in the build first, then invite others to view and contribute.
Communities and learning
Communities and networks that build something durable together
Most professional communities produce conversation. A minority produce durable collective understanding — the kind that compounds over time and gives members something they could not have built alone. The difference is structural.
Research networks · Professional communities · Education · Think tanks
Generational wisdom
Engage generations in deliberation — not just in surveys — and build a dynamic view that draws on the wisdom of elders and the longevity of youth. Humanity learns slowly from its own mistakes. Structured deliberation across ages and contexts accelerates that process without losing the depth.
Lifelong learning & education
Support students and professionals to think critically and for themselves. Hunome helps participants find their passion areas through deliberation rather than instruction, and builds the leadership and thinking habits that formal education structures rarely develop.
Accessible academic research
Build bridges between research areas for a more impactful whole. Make research accessible and engaging across disciplines. Break silos. Define interesting questions collaboratively. Use deliberation to make science available to multi-, trans-, or interdisciplinary work.
A case-dependent choice
Open, semi-open, or closed — depending on what the deliberation needs.
Not every theme should be built in public. The participation mode shapes what is possible — in reach, in trust, and in the connections the deliberation can form with others.
Open
Maximum reach, high trust in outcomes. Anyone can contribute. Best for themes that benefit from broad awareness and genuine evangelism — where transparency in the build is itself part of the value.
Semi-open
Some transparency, some control. The SparkMap and analytics can be opened at a point and to a defined extent. For organisations that need to manage what is visible without losing the benefits of broad input.
Closed
Full confidentiality for sensitive deliberations. Contributions are protected and the output is internal. The trade-off is reduced reach and the cross-deliberation connections that open participation makes possible.
Worth naming
What Hunome is not the right tool for.
If you need isolated data points, ready-made answers, or a ticketing system to organise work, Hunome is not the right fit. Hunome builds understanding — the kind that emerges from deliberation across perspectives, not from aggregating responses or querying a database.
Insights in isolation of context are not useful. Data without reasoning misleads. Answers without deliberation assume the future is already knowable.
If your question is genuinely complex, contextual, and not yet fully formed — that is exactly what Hunome is built for.
